The Eye---Philippe Menye Me Mvé who was former Minister of Defence has died at the age of 80. Reports say he died last weekend after a protracted illness. Appointed Minister delegate at the Presidency in Charge of Defence on September 19, 1996 he was later replaced on December 7, 1997. Before his appointment, he had served as Assistant Divisional Officer for Mfou, before moving to Nkam, Dja and Lobo, and Upper Nkam, Moungo, Mayo-Sanaga and Mfoundi where he served as Senior Divisional Officer. In 1992, he was appointed Governor of the then West Province where he served for four years before catapulted to Minister delegate in charge of defence.
