On the other hand, the chairman of Donga Mantung presbytery elder Samari Michael Tume in his speech expressed gratitude to the Moderator for the deep love he has shown to the people of Donga Mantung Division through the choice of the pastors posted to the division. He equally pleaded on PCC hierarchy to split the Donga Mantung Presbytery into two. Besides, Donga Mantung Presbytery chairman also requested for the creation of a science department at PHS Nkambe, which will go a long way to groom future scientists.
On her part, the Congregational chairperson, Madame Massa Josephine expressed joy that just for seven months, the new presbytery secretary who doubles as parish pastor has shown that he is pastor with a difference. She however emphasized that the parish pastor is already transforming the congregation of Nkambe town into a veritable presbytery seat.
The Man, Rev. Achuranjoh Philip
Born on May 14, 1971 in Teze-Ngie subdivision (Momo Division) into the family of Achuranjoh Ekaojeh and Dinator Enduking all of blessed memory, Achuranjoh Philip is the fifth child of the six children of the family. The quest for education and knowledge took him to GS Teze where he graduated in flying colours in 1983 with the First School Leaving Certificate. Up graduation young Achuranjoh Philip moved to Bamenda where he enrolled at Longla Comprehensive College, one of the most prestigious private secondary school in the North West Region by then and in 1985, he obtained his General Certificate of Education-GCE Ordinary Level. His grades were so thrilling that he was immediately admitted into the second cycle of that same education institution and after two years (in 1992) he completed the course dexterously. While at Longla Comprehensive College, he was nicknamed “pastor”, and “father” given his pious, devoted and his involvement in religious issues as he was Religion Prefect in both 1stand 2nd cycles. It was from these nicknames and his desire to serve God in a special way that spurred the Rev. Achuranjoh Philip to sit-in for the entrance into the then Theological College of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon. As God will make things to always happen, he was admitted among the 17 candidates in the 1992/1993 batch. On June 16, 1996, he graduated and was authorized as pastor of the PCC. After graduation, he has served in the following parishes of the PCC;
· Bole Bakundu in the then Kumba Presbytery (1996-1999), Missionary pastor in the Mbo Missionary Area in Njungo Upper Nkongho in Nguti Subdivision attached to the East Moungo South Presbytery (1999-200)
· Parish Pastor of Kuttin and Ekoh Parishes in Njikwa Presbytery (2000-2004).
· Parish pastor of Ossing in the Mamfe presbytery (2004-2005)
· Pioneer Associate Pastor of Mamfe Town Congregation and also served the same congregation as Chaplain of non Presbyterian Schools in Mamfe (2005-2009)
· Admitted into a Bachelors Degree Programme and he graduated after writing his thesis on: “The Role of the Pastor in the Political Life of the Society” (2009-2010)
· After graduation, he was posted to Bamenda Station Parish in Mezam Presbytery where he equally served at the Ntanche Congregation of Mendakwe Parish
· In 2011, he was again admitted for a two-year Master of Theology Degree Programme in the same Presbyterian Theological Seminary Kumba and he obtained MA in 2013
· In May 2013, he was appointed by the staffing committee of the PCC as the Presbyterial Secretary for Njikwa Presbytery and parish pastor of Bemban and later was added Njikwa Parish in 2014 to his loaded administrative work until 2015.
· He was appointed and transferred to the Bali Presbytery as Presbytery Secretary and parish pastor for Ntafoang where he served for two years.
· In 2017, Rev. Achuranjoh was appointed Presbytery pastor for Donga Mantung and congregation pastor for Nkambe town.
He is happily married to Madame Akebe Brenda and the couple is blessed with several kids. In fact, to sum it all, Rev. Achuranjoh Philip is soft-spoken and a man with extraordinary abilities. He is the picturesque of what is pastor is. Those who have had the opportunity to discuss one-on-one with him will agree with me that if you are looking for an inspirational preacher, Rev. Achuranjoh Philip is the right person.
